It's Only Glass

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
The truth is that this is the second time I tried Criminal Minds. The first time was a 'recruitment' episode shown right after the Super Bowl. That is, the "If you've never watched CM before, THIS is the episode to watch!" And...I like criminal shows. I like a lot of the cast (Mandy Patinkin, Shemar Moore, Thomas Gibson...). So I decided to check it out.

AND IT WAS AWFUL. So awful. I was completely revolted by how bad it was. And I crossed Criminal Minds off my list and wondered what had happened to Mandy Patinkin that he was on such a rotten show. Ahem.

Well. Flash forward to...several days ago. And the first two seasons became available to me. *sketchy* And, because there is a DISTINCT LACK of new television to watch, I decided to give it another shot, starting from the beginning this time. So I took a look at the pilot. And I liked it. And so I watched more. And more. And more.

Eventually, this spawned a certain feeling of dirtiness. I mean...if I had hated it so much before, was I mistaken then, or was the show really bad and I was so numbed by TV withdrawal that I'd watch anything? WHAT WAS GOING ON?

Well. Then, all unknowing, I got to the Super Bowl episode. And, much to my relief, IT WAS JUST AS HORRIFYINGLY BAD as the first time I saw it. Whew!

Well. Now I'm watching... *checks* "Ashes and Dust". And...seriously? Like...SERIOUSLY?? spoilers for Ashes and Dust )

*sighs* Okay. Now that I have that out of my system.

I am starting to seriously wonder about the amount of time that [info]mona1347, [info]nilchance and [info]beanside and I spend talking about kittens, puppies and various permutations of Sam, Dean, John-Jared, Jensen and Jeff. Sometimes Sam/Jared, Dean/Jensen and John/Jeff AS kittens and puppies. Ahem. Yes.

Nothing to see, move along now...

Now that Remix is behind me, I'm regrouping and going through the list of my obligations. I haven't been talking about it, but I'm actually working on an original thing right now. I think it'll end up being more of a novella than a novel, but I think past history has also shown that I'm shite about making those sort of judgments, so who knows? I actually haven't worked on it for the past few days, but before that, I was making sure to do a few hundred words every day along with my daily writing exercise.

Nattering about that. )

In addition to that, I need to find a way to make [info]maygra's Sweet Charity story work. It's so humiliatingly overdue and while she has been (and continues to be) enormously understanding, I hate that it is and has taken me this long to do something so relatively simple. [info]shotofjack has been really helpful in cheerleading me along and I need to get over my performance anxiety and just WRITE IT.

I just signed up for the Small Fandom Big Bang (Bones, Die Hard, Psych, Samurai Champloo and Vorkosigan). With it's minimum set at 10,000 words it's a petite big bang and, since the big Die Hard story I want to write (Save As) it likely to be at LEAST that long, it seemed like a perfect thing to sign up for.

After that is the [info]lynnevitational. It's my first year participating in it and, as I've written very few Buffy or Angel stories (IIRC, two in Buffy and one in Angel, not counting an SPN crossover with Gunn). I've never really been "in" the fandom, since both shows were off the air once I'd found Fandom with the big F, and I don't really know what I'm going to write about here. I think perhaps a rewatch is in order, see what breaks loose.
