New episodes of Battlestar Galactica are going to be starting up soon. And though Ron Moore and Co. broke my fanishness about it into little sand-like fragments, I find some core-love and burgeoning interest beginning to stir, despite my best intentions…and possibly against my best interests.
But for all its flaws, BSG is, in its purest state, the kind of story I'm drawn to as helplessly as that whole moths and flames thing. Futuristic. Post-apocalyptic. (Theoretically) character driven. Soiled intermeshings of science, politics and military. Conflict between "normal" society and some Other construct, now rendered 'the enemy' by the very hands that created them. Sweeping moral questions and deep moral ambiguity. Dirt (seriously; don't underestimate the power of a 'grubby' reality over a super clean and antiseptic one for its appeal to my psyche. BSG and Firefly, people. BSG and Firefly.)
So recently,
shotofjack and I were talking about "the big mystery" of this (the final) season of BSG. ( No spoilers and not even speculation, exactly, so much as my wish-list )
In other news, there will shortly be fic.
